One of the wonders of this new-age we live in, is that we have all the information we could ever want at the tip of our fingers. Just a few taps on your phone and you can know almost everything about anything.
Being a lady is a 24/7 task and it is easy to forget your mannerisms when on the go, luckily, there are some handy apps to give you a quick reminder and advise on various forms of etiquette.
All of these apps were downloaded for free from the i-phone app store, they may not be available on other devices.
Enjoy :)
1. Hello Vino
This app is great for anyone who is new to the wine world. It will help you match your food to your wine without having to know all those fancy words and terminologies, often associated with the art of wine tasting. If you're the type of wine buyer that tends to make purchases based purely on the fancy/cute looking label, the app has a label identification program which allows you to scan the bottle. It will then tell you everything you need to know about that particular wine, from the taste, notes, general rating, which food to pair it with and more. There is also a 'wine gifting' section to help you pick the perfect wine for a birthday, wedding present or for that special someone.
2.Beverly Hills Manners
Created by Lisa Gaché, founder and CEO of Beverly Hills Manners, a leading etiquette school, this app covers everything from: first impressions, social graces, dining etiquette, business etiquette and children's etiquette.
The layout is sleek and easy to navigate and also gives you access to the Beverly Hills Manners website, that contains more useful resources.
3.iHandy Translator
I think it is absolutely essential that when travelling to a another country, you make an effort to learn at least the basic phrases in that countries native language. It is one of the biggest sins of English speakers in particular, that we do not bother to make this effort. Simply being able to say hello, thank you and goodbye, will make people more receptive towards you and show how courteous you are. This handy app allows you to translate any word or phrase into any one of the fifty-two languages held in its database. If you wish to use more extensive features such as the pronounciator which speaks the words for you, or the phrase handbook, you have to pay a small fee for an upgrade to iHandy Translator Pro.
4.Affirmations!
In a word full of bad news, work and stress, it can become very easy to see just the negative aspects of life. Positive affirmations are always a good pick-me-up to lift the spirit. I like to repeat the words to myself first thing in the morning when I get up to start my day on a good high, and it's often the last thing I do at night.
5.International Business Etiquette
Understanding other people's languages, cultures, etiquettes and taboos is of great value to the traveller or visiting business person. Choose the country of interest and you will get information on language, society, culture, business and social etiquette pointers.
I hope you found that useful my beauties.
Just to let you know, I am currently working two books. The first is a guide to etiquette and femininity for the new NEW black woman, and the other is a guide book for black women looking to escape Blackistan. You can find out more about the progress of these books if you the click on the 'My Books' tab at the top of the page.
